Course Description
This course describes the skills and knowledge required to review the developmental status of a client. The application of knowledge and skills described in this course may relate to functions such as providing information to clients and reporting or referring issues outside the scope of practice of the individual worker. Note that the client may be a child or a young person. Work at this level may require guidance and/or supervision from appropriately qualified personnel, especially where provision of direct client services is involved. This course applies to people working in a range of community service contexts including: juvenile justice, alcohol and other drugs services, mental health, and child protection.

Overview of Assessment
You will be required to complete three assessment tasks for this course. These tasks involve answering questions bases on a case study, the analysis of clients’ situation and suitability of services, and an online test covering important aspects of the course.
Assessment Tasks
For this unit you will be required to complete two assessment tasks as describe below:
Assessment Task 1 – Case Scenarios: for this task you will be required to read two different scenarios and write a report comparing and contrasting the developmental status and services required for each client.
Assessment Task 2 - Work placement observation report: For this course the program coordinator or one of the facilitators will visit you in your work place and conduct a workplace interview and observation. You will be asked a number of questions that will allow you to demonstrate competency for this unit. Visits will be arranged with each student individually.
