Course Description
In this unit, you will use your self-directed application of skills and knowledge in order to research, apply and evaluate visual communication principles in the production of creative and innovative photo images.

Details of Learning Activities
In this course you will gain skills and knowledge required to produce creative and innovative photo images using visual communication principles.
In this unit, you will use your self-directed application of skills and knowledge in order to research, apply and evaluate visual communication principles in the production of creative and innovative photo images.
Learning activities will consist of:

Overview of Assessment
Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and will include both project work and a presentation of a briefing document and folio of images to a panel of industry experts and your peers.
Assessment Tasks
Assessment tasks in this course are Graded and Ungraded.
Your final graded assessment is combination of components that make up a final brief that will be assessed in the following subjects:
- Research and Exploit Photo Imaging Trends (PI Trends)
- Research the role + use of the Photo Imaging in Visual Communication (Vis Com). You will develop your brief and test images in Vis Com.
To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard. Once you have demonstrated competency, your final assessment task will be graded. For further information on the assessment and grading criteria, please refer to the course Blackboard site.
Assessment 01: Poster Collage
Ungraded Assessment
Due - Week 2
In groups compete a poster constructed from a collage of images on your assigned topic. You will present your poster to class and peer review one other group
Assessment 02: Critique Session
Graded Assessment (20%)
Due - Week 10
Progressive (one-on-one) assessment of folio development by appointment.

Assessment 03: Final Folio Brief + Images
Graded Assessment (80%)
Due - Week 14-16
Using the brief concept approved in Assessment 2 (PI Trends), develop a complete and comprehensive brief document that outlines plans required to execute the idea.
Evaluate your folio (tested) images and brief, considering the future opportunities and work direction. Highlight any changes required to proceed with the implementation of this project.
This brief and your first (minimum 2) images will be presented to the class in weeks 14-16 as part of a review/feedback session.
