Course Description

In this course you will gain, skills and knowledge required to investigate photo imaging trends and emerging technologies and assess their creative and commercial applications. Using the knowledge of emerging trends, you will evaluate, plan and implement changes to your workflow, products and technology.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, research, oral presentations and through the development, planning and sharing ideas/findings with a panel of industry experts and your peers. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on myRMIT.


Assessment Tasks

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard required in the workplace. 

To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Assessment Task 1:Inspector Gadget (research project)
Due date: WK2

Identify and evaluate trends and emerging technology and their impact on photo imaging.

Assessment Task 2: Inspiration | Innovation (photographer analysis)
Due date: WK4

Research project based on identifying inspiring trends and emerging technologies used by photographers and evaluating how they have used these trends to enhance their practice.

Assessment Task 3:Elevator Pitch + SWOT Analysis 
Due date: WK7

Compete a pitch, SWOT analysis, budget and timeline to realise your folio idea/plan 


Assessment Task 4:Proposal & Presentation
Due date: WK15 (Canvas submission WK15 Presentation to peers WK16)

Reflect on your project A03 and present your final pitch, SWOT analysis, budget and timeline – along with 2 x final folio images (folio ready)
