Course Description

This course covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage personal professional performance and to take responsibility for professional development in relation to the provision of training and/or assessment services.

This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and /or community is integral to your experience.

Details of Learning Activities

 This course is online. Activities may include:

• blog/wiki discussion and participation
• participation in online discussion boards/threads and Collaborate sessions or other webinar-type activities
• keeping an online reflective journal
• analysis/critique of relevant reading material
• individual or group projects conducted through electronic media
• peer teaching and workshop presentations
• online research


Teaching Schedule

 

This course is taught over 3 sessions in semester one. In every session various elements will be covered from the unit.

Note: While your teacher will cover all the material in this schedule, the order is subject to change depending on class needs.

Session 1: 

Assess own knowledge and skills against relevant benchmarks to determine development needs and priorities; Seek input from other relevant personnel about own development needs and priorities; Identify ways to update and maintain currency of vocational competency, and prepare a vocational currency plan; Identify ways to update, and maintain, vocational education and training (VET) knowledge and skills, as well as trainer and assessor competence, and prepare a VET currency plan; Combine the vocational currency plan and VET currency plan into an overall professional development plan.

During the program you will complete assessment tasks which are listed, in detail, at the beginning of the course. These tasks may include:

Assessment Tasks

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all of the following tasks to a satisfactory standard.
You will receive written feedback on all assessment tasks.

Task 1: Plan a program of professional development (PD) activities

Assess your own professional development needs, research and identify current and credible references to inform professional practice and then plan suitable activities to maintain and enhance both vocational and educational competency.

Task 2: Participate in professional development activities

Implement your PD plan, engaging in PD in addition to working with peers through networks and observations and using technology. Reflect on successes and areas for improvement.

  • Tasks 1-2 need to be submitted by midnight Friday March 29

It is a requirement of the Dip Training Design and Development (TAE50216) program that all assessment work be submitted electronically in Canvas. You are asked to submit any workplace projects as a single Word or PDF file; multiple project files will not be accepted.
