Course Description

This course covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to facilitate learning delivered via electronic media.

Details of Learning Activities

This course is online. Activities may include but not limited to:

  • blog/wiki discussion and participation
  • participation in online discussion boards/threads and Collaborate sessions or other webinar-type activities
  • keeping an online reflective journal
  • analysis/critique of relevant reading material
  • individual or group projects conducted through electronic media
  • peer teaching and workshop presentations
  • online research


Teaching Schedule

For the February 2020 intake:

This course is delivered over 3 sessions in semester 2 2020. 

Note: While your teacher will cover all the material in this schedule, the order is subject to change depending on class needs.

 

Session 1: 

Establish an e-learning environment, by interpreting the learning strategy along with its outcomes sought, develop an e-learning delivery plan, confirm technical requirements for e-learning, trial and check e-learning resources and materials, develop and document the protocols required for e-learning, identify and organise technical support for e-learners.  An introduction to the e-learning environment, establish and support inclusivity, diversity within e-learning relationships, 

 

Session 2: 

Guide and facilitate e-learning using relevant electronic tools, demonstrating good practice in e-learning facilitation, use relevant support mechanisms, documenting e-learner progress, monitoring e-learning interactions with others and intervene when required, , maintain, stare and secure e-learner records, conduct e-learning

 

Session 3:

Review effectiveness of delivery and facilitation, reflect on own performance, identify, and document any recommendations for improvements in facilitating e-learning.

Overview of Assessment

During the program you will complete assessment tasks which are listed, in detail, at the beginning of the course. These tasks may include :

  • Workplace based projects
  • Direct observation
  • Online assessment (eg discussion forum, blog, wiki, quiz)
  • Professional conversation
  • Third-party reports

Assessment Tasks

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all of the following tasks to a satisfactory standard.
You will receive written feedback on all assessment tasks.

 

Task 1: Plan an e-learning program

  • outline your chosen e-learning program and learner characteristics
  • confirm technical requirements for your e-learning program
  • develop e-learning protocols 
  • detail technical support for learners
  • trial and confirm your e-learning portal/resources for functionality
  • develop a delivery plan for the program 

 

Task 2: Organise, facilitate and review two (2) e-learning sessions 

From task 1, you are to deliver two e-learning sessions aligned to your e-learning program plan, you must:

  • introduce the sessions, discuss e-learning protocols, promote a positive e-learning environment
  • use e-learning tools to facilitate your plan include activities in each of your two (2) sessions
  • administer practice and formative assessment into the e-learning experience
  • detail monitoring of the e-learning program and student progress.

 

Task 3: Knowledge questions:

You will answer short answer questions relating to TAEDEL501 in 100 to 200 words for each question.

 

It is a requirement of the Diploma of Training Design and Development (TAE50216) program that all assessment work be submitted electronically through the Canvas LMS.
You are asked to submit any workplace projects as a single Word or PDF file which must include a signed RMIT Cover Sheet; multiple project files will not be accepted.

 

Submission deadlines:

February 2020 Intake:

Tasks 1 & 3 need to be submitted by midnight 23 October 2020.

Task 2 needs to be submitted by midnight 13 November 2020.
