Course Description

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to originate and develop concepts for products, programs, processes or services to an operational level. It applies to individuals who develop concepts for any business or community activity or process, such as marketing and advertising campaigns, staff development programs, information technology and communication systems, radio and television programs, entertainment events, films, exhibitions and digital media products. Individuals operate with a high degree of autonomy, but collaborate with others to generate ideas and refine concepts to the point where they can be implemented.

Other required resources include, but are not limited to: an A4 or A3 visual diary, drawing materials (pencils of various grades (1B & 2B), erasers, coloured pencils and pens, graphic markers such as Copic brand) broadband internet access, suitable digital media storage such as a portable hard drive or USB flash drive, with at least 64Gb capacity.


Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge of course content is assessed through participation in practical exercises and knowledge assessment tasks.


Assessment Tasks

Assessment for this course is competency based. To show competency, you must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task. Once you have demonstrated competency, you will receive a grade for A01, A02 and A04 and for the course.

Late submissions or submissions that do not reach the required standard, may be assessed Not Yet Satisfactory. You will receive resubmission instructions via email, myRMIT or LMS feedback. Resubmissions must occur within a week of this notification.

Graded assessments which are resubmitted, are eligible for CAG (Competency Achieved Graded) only.

A review of your work performance undertaken by yourself, your peers and your teachers. Three in class milestone reviews and assessment submissions.
Due week 1, 3 and 6. Graded.

A02 - Design Project 2 Pre-production documentation - Work in Progress Milestone 1
Present preproduction to teachers, receive and incorporate feedback. Non-attended Work In Progress meetings will be eligible for pass grade only.
Due week 7. Graded.

A03 - Design Project 2 Production - Work in Progress Milestones 2 and 3
Present production to teachers, receive and incorporate feedback.
Due week 10 and 12. Ungraded.
