Course Description

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to establish the information need, gather information and critically analyse the information for relevance to own work.

 

This course applies to health and community service workers who need to research existinginformation to support and improve their work practice. It does not cover primary research.

 

This course includes a Work Integrated Learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.

Learning Outcomes


The critical learning for this course takes place in clinical placement within the health sector and within simulations in RMIT laboratories.

You will be are instructed in skills through demonstration, modelling and role-play. Skills development is supported by lectures on theory and underpinning knowledge, classroom discussions, group work, research and reflective practice.

 

On completion of this course you should be able to:

CHCPOL003 - AT1 Observational Audit, project report and poster Presentation as a group:

In allocated groups, students are required to conduct an audit, collate the results, complete an individual research report, create a group A3 poster and presentation that summarises key information on the topic.

CHCPOL003 - AT2 Literature review:

Students will be required to read an article and complete a review on that article

You are permitted to have a maximum of 2 resubmissions for this course, however each individual assessment may only be resubmitted once.  Resubmissions are not automatic and will only be approved at the discretion of the program coordinator after consultation with the teacher.

 All resubmissions must be completed and submitted no more than 7 days after your work has been assessed.
