Course Description

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to develop and document a spatial data collection plan that meets client specifications. The unit covers analysing project specifications and client instructions to evaluate and determine appropriate data acquisition and collection options. The unit requires the ability to use technology to manage spatial data and prepare the written plan. It also requires the ability to assess the technical, financial, and legal and resource implications of the project in order to select the preferred collection options.

The unit supports those who work in a lead role in a surveying or spatial information services team in areas such as surveying, cartography, town planning, mapping and geographic information systems (GIS).
