Summary and Purpose of Assessment

This project is one assessment tasks consisting of four parts. You need to complete each part satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this course.  You will be observed during their team project and the feedback the student receives is based on a conversation held between the teacher and you about your team role employability skills.

This assessment depends on you attending class, participating in the team activities and reading the course materials described in the learning management system (LMS). The businesses and currency are fake, there is no AUD$ to be used in this project. Use the trading platform to make purchases and sales for the business Reflective Records.

You should apply self-directed learning principles to use the simulated business community website and understand its use see: http://simbuscommunity.com.au/about-us/ Completing this project allows you to demonstrate at managerial level in the facilitation of work teams and build a positive culture within their work teams. At this level, work is carried out using various methods and procedures requiring the exercise of considerable discretion and judgement, using a range of problem solving and decision making strategies.

There are two activities that you will perform and are described in this assessment.  The first activity is:

1. “Click Frenzy”

You will be trading for our online business Reflective Records, buying and selling on behalf of your department. The team chooses their own budget in consultation with the teacher/manager. Do not go over budget with wild, irresponsible spending but instead make a profit by selling products to businesses in the simulated business network. Keep all copies of your electronic transactions with Simulated Business.

2. “National Roadshow”

You will prepare an itinerary for Bridget Pearson, Marketing Manager, Reflective Records to promote the business to the network.  She will need a promotion kit to take with her, so you will need to prepare one based on Reflective Records products.  Plan a national trip for 8 business days to as many businesses in the network as practicable. The budget for the entire trip is $10,000. It includes cab fares, hotel accommodation and premium economy flexible airfares.

  1. To discover the businesses where Pearson can visit go to the simulated business website: http://simbuscommunity.com.au/2017/06/simulated-business-contact-list/
  2. To follow the policies and procedures for booking travel for Reflective Records see page 26 of the HR Procedures manual found at the simulated business website.
  3. Using the laminating and binding machines in the simulated business, print the itinerary, and bind it.  Pearson requires one copy per department.
