Course Description
In this unit you will develop skills and knowledge required to design and create visual merchandising displays for promotional purposes. You will develop the ability to review a visual merchandising concept to identify display objectives, and to build displays using a range of construction methods and materials.

Details of Learning Activities
Design and Install Visual Merchandising Displays (Display 1) will introduce students to the basics of display. Students will learn about the use of space and the fundamentals of creating displays for a variety of merchandise categories using a varitey of different design elements.
Students will take part in class discussions, presentations, small group activities and indivial activities. The students will enage in many practical exercise ( displays) to demonstrate thier competency.

Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills.

Assessment 1 Black & White Pop Up shop (Individual & Group assessment) Brief will be presented in week 9 with installation in week 12
Assessment 2 Folio (Individual Assessment) Brief will be presented in week 1 with submission in week 16
Each one of these assessments is summative and graded and marked out of 100%

If you are unable to complete any piece of assessment by the due date, you will need to apply for an extension. Work submitted late and without an extension at any point will incur late penalties in accordance with university policy. If you require an extension you must complete an extension form with evidence supporting your application and hand this to your instructor. Employability skills are embedded in all courses and these include Planning & Organising and Self management. For this reason, late work impacts on your overall grade for each assessment task.
