Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to experiment with digital imaging techniques and ideas to develop an individual style or voice.

It applies to individuals who produce digital art images for electronic media or physical display in publications, portfolio and galleries.

Learning Outcomes


In completing this course, student will be able to develop a range of images that can promote his or her works in the creative field.


Details of Learning Activities

During this semester we will be looking at creating, editing and compositing digital renderings of 3D CAD models. The classes will be delivered in a face-to-face format. The main software that we will be using is KeyShot - a real time ray-tracing program but will will also be using SolidWorks and PhotoShop as well as others.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment will incorporate a range of methods to assess performance and the application of knowledge and skills and will include:

EXAMPLES
- Practical tasks, a major project
- direct observation including exploration of and experimentation with techniques
- written and/or oral questioning and discussion to assess knowledge and understanding
- completion of a design journal and/or portfolio including personal reflection and feedback
