Course Description

This course will give you the skills and knowledge required to manage the initiation, implementation and completion of reasonably complex information and communications technology (ICT) projects incorporating scope, risk control and financial factors.

Details of Learning Activities

This course consists of 2 Units of Competency that are clustered together for delivery and assessment. The other unit of competency in this clustered course is: ICTDMT501 Incorporate and edit digital video

Students are encouraged to make full use of class time, open studio time and University computer lab resources. Please consult the RMIT University web site for details of access times and locations.

Other required resources include, but are not limited to: an A4 or A3 visual diary, drawing materials (pencils of various grades (1B & 2B), erasers, coloured pencils and pens, graphic markers such as Copic brand) broadband internet access, suitable digital media storage such as a portable hard drive or USB 3.0 flash drive, with at least 128Gb capacity.

You are strongly advised to maintain a daily backup schedule of all assessment and project data to your RMIT account.


Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, practical project work and through the application of learned skills.


Assessment Tasks

Assessment for this course is competency based. To show competency, you must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Late assessment submissions, or submissions that do not reach the required standard may be assessed as Not Satisfactory (NS). You will receive feedback on your assessment through Canvas and resubmission instructions via email. You must resubmit within two weeks of this notification. You may re-submit an assessment task only once. Please refer to the assessment brief or rubric for full assessment criteria. All assessment documents are available on the course Canvas page through MyRMIT.

 

AT1 MED1 Teamwork for Media Production 1

Answer ten (10) questions which relate to team management in preparation for the team project you will be undertaking in the Media Production 1 project.

The answers are required to be written; utilising your knowledge of spelling and grammar, and demonstrating your ability to present ideas, options and recommendations in writing.

AT2 MED1 Pre-production for Media Production 1

develop the concept and undertake planning for a video project.  Your assessor will provide a client brief requiring a series of videos.  You will form a project team and each member of that team will be responsible for managing the production of one video.

Due week 7

 

AT3 MED1 PR (progress review) for Media Production 1

Meet with your assessor to undertake a work in PR (progress review) meeting. Your assessor will ask you seven (7) questions which relate to the video editing you are undertaking in the Media Production 1 project. As part of the meeting you will be asked to show your video editing in progress to inform your answers to the questions.

Due week 11

 

AT4 MED1 Production for Media Production 1

Execute the project that you planned in Assessment tasks 2 & 3.

You will be assessed against your assigned video and how well you collaborated with your project team to achieve outcomes that meet the client brief.

Due week 14

  AT5 MED1 Scoping an ICT project   Answer questions which relate to scoping an ICT project, from confirming the business problem through to determining training needs and support for your team.   The answers are required to be written; utilising your knowledge of spelling and grammar, and demonstrating your ability to present ideas, options and recommendations in writing.   Due week 15
