Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to present and negotiate persuasively, lead and participate in meetings and make presentations to customers, clients and others.
It applies to managers and leaders who identify, analyse, synthesise and act on information from a range of sources, and who deal with unpredictable problems. They use initiative and judgement to organise the work of self and others and plan, evaluate and co-ordinate the work of teams.

Details of Learning Activities
A range of learning activities are planned for this course including self-paced research and collaborative based activities. The collaborative classroom based activities will include group discussion, group problem solving activities and opportunities to practice your skills in a simulated business environment. Overview of Assessment
In order to achieve competency in this unit, you must provide:
Performance Evidence Evidence of the ability to: • review organisational policies to determine information that may be subject to confidentiality • negotiate and present persuasively • identify relevant stakeholder groups • communicate clearly with key stakeholders to position the business to best effect including listening actively, understanding the information needs of others and adapting communication to suit the audience • prepare for, participate in, and lead meetings to obtain outcomes • prepare and make presentations to groups of people including: • identifying suitable fora for presentations • presenting reliable information • designing the presentation to meet the needs of the audience • answering questions clearly and concisely. Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once. Knowledge Evidence The candidate must be able to demonstrate the following knowledge to effectively complete the tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, and to manage tasks and reasonably foreseeable contingencies in the context of the work role: • Key industry, media and government organisations, events and communication channels that are relevant to the organisation • Key principles of cross-cultural communication • Key features of various techniques for negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution and incident de-escalation • Key features of structured and inclusive meeting procedures • Key features of relevant organisational objectives • Key features of relevant organisational policies and procedures, including in relation to the confidentiality of information. Assessment Conditions Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in the management and leadership field of work and include access to: • relevant workplace documentation and resources • case studies and, where possible, real situations • interaction with others.Feedback

You are encouraged to ask and answer questions during class time and online sessions so that you can obtain feedback on your understanding of the concepts and issues being discussed. Finally, you can email or arrange an appointment with your teacher to gain more feedback on your progress.

Assessment Tasks
You are required to successfully complete all assessment tasks to be deemed competent in this course. NOTE: Details about specific tasks and assessment criteria will be included in Canvas.
Assessment Task 2
Summary and Purpose of Assessment
There is a total of two (2) assessment tasks that you are required to complete satisfactorily for this cluster of courses to be deemed competent in them. This is assessment task two (2) of 2.
For this assessment task you are to administer, finalise and review their project - completing this assessment will allow you to demonstrate your ability to monitor the project and gain feedback that will enable them to have the opportunity to improve and further develop their skills in this area.
Assessment Task 2 Instructions
This assessment task involves answering a series of questions related to this topic. You are to write full sentence descriptions except where you determine information can be conveyed more clearly using dot points, tables, graphs or diagrams.
What
You are asked to administer and monitor your project, so you can finalise the project and review the outcomes. Your business idea, improvement, or opportunity should have been approved by your manager in Task 1. You will prepare written answers that will provide evidence of the project’s effectiveness and alignment with business outcomes.
You are required to continue working in project teams to complete this assessment task. However, you must submit your own assessment report.
Where
You will be provided some class time to work on this assessment, and you are expected to complete much of this assessment outside of class.
How
You will be assessed against the criteria listed in the marking guide in Section B of this task. To achieve a satisfactory result, you will need to address all criteria satisfactorily.

Submission Requirements
You should:
• Ensure that you submit assessments on or before the due date via Canvas.
• Always retain a copy of your assessment tasks. (hard copy and soft copy)
• When you submit work for assessment at RMIT University you need to use the Assessment task document that includes a declaration and statement of authorship.
• Each page of your assessment should include a footer with your name, student number, the title of the assessment, unit code and title and page numbers.
Late Submission Procedures
You are required to submit assessment items and/or ensure performance based assessment is completed by the due dates.
Extension of Time. If you are prevented from submitting an assessment item on time by circumstances outside your control, you may apply in advance to your teacher for an extension to the due date of up to seven calendar days.

Special Consideration. Where more than seven days is needed, you must apply for Special Consideration. Applications for special consideration must be submitted no later than two working days after the assessment task deadline or scheduled examination.

Resubmission (VE Programs)
If you are found to be Not Yet Competent in a course assessment task (or you do not submit the assessment tasks/attend the assessment) you will be allowed one resubmission. Your teacher will provide feedback regarding what you need to do to improve and will set a new deadline for the resubmission in Canvas.
If you are still not meeting the assessment requirements you must apply to your Program Manager in writing outlining the steps you will take to demonstrate competence in your course. Your submission will be considered by the Program Team and you will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.
