Course Description
In this course you will explore the skills and knowledge required to promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural safety, while working independently to plan and undertake community services work. This course addresses the application of knowledge of the broad social and cultural context impacting on the Aboriginal community when delivering services in the community services industry.
This course is delivered with the following unit of competency;
- CHCMHS007 Work effectively in trauma informed care
These units are clustered for delivery but assessed separately.

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of these course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate competency in the above elements. By applying these skills and this knowledge you will be able to promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural safety, while working independently to plan and undertake community services work. In your work role and while undertaking work placement you will deliver services to Aboriginal community members to address the social and cultural issues.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and will include case studies, knowledge questions and supervised placement hours within the community services industry. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on Canvas.
