Course Description

This course introduces the skills and knowledge that vision mixers need to operate in a multi-source environment from a studio control room or an outside broadcast van.

2.2 Negotiate alternative strategies where designated effects and processes are beyond capabilities of available equipment

2.3 Check selected effects and processes are prepared, and monitors are working within specifications

2.4 Check vision sources can be accessed on vision mixing unit and previewed on monitoring equipment

2.5 Note key reference points and complexities requiring special attention during productions

2.6 Test equipment for technical problems and arrange for repairs or replacements as required

3.6 Monitor quality of creative and technical output during productions

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral/written presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on CANVAS.


Assessment Tasks

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace.  

To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task. 
 
You should refer to the assessment brief which is available through Canvas for full assessment criteria and due dates

Assessment Task 1: Questions: You will be asked to complete questions on what you have learnt. Answer all 7 questions in the spaces provided. Due Week 8 

Assessment Task 2: Practical: Television Program practical assessment. You are required to demonstrate the skills and knowledge to vision mix productions either from a studio control room or from an outside broadcast van. Due Week 11
