Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide training in aerospace (mechanical) practices.
This course provides an introduction to computer aided drafting (CAD) applications, examples including pipelines; spur gears; material types, specifications and surface conditions.

Learning Outcomes

1. Draw pipelines using correct aerospace engineering symbols and conventions.
2. Draw spur gears using standard engineering drawing practice.
3. Apply correct surface texture conventions to an engineering drawing.
4. Apply material specifications and surface treatment conventions to for engineering drawings.
5. Prepare and discuss aerospace engineering drawing using a computer aided drafting (CAD) software package.
6. Co-ordinate and participate in the preparation of manual and / or computerised detailed drawings.

To successfully to complete this course the student is required to pass written assessment tasks and demonstrate skills and ability by completing practical tasks.
