Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide training in the effective management of technical documentation in a workplace.
This course prepares the student to effectively manage technical documentation in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes


1. Identify workplace documentation needed to meet legislative and organisational requirements.
2. Review technical documents for use by self and team.
3. Coordinate the maintenance of technical documents in the workplace.
4. Use workplace information systems to coordinate technical documentation storage retrieval and dissemination.

NB: Weekly tutorials.


Teaching Schedule

Editing, proof-reading and reviewing technical documents. What is a ’document’ by law (Privacy act).

Processes for storage, access, archiving and disposal of documents.

Periodic review of documents. Consistency of text and review of statistics.

House-style and Government conventions. Copyright.
