Students will develop practical skills in AC electrical measurement , testing and problem solving related to working with the equations in AC series & parallel circuits in practical activities and work simulation projects.

Details of Learning Activities
Students will participate face to face in
• classroom tutorial activities to consolidate the theory of Electrical concepts, which may include calculations for electrical quantities but not limited to: voltage, current, resistance and power.
• practical activities to develop skill in construction of electrical circuits and measurement of electrical quantities: voltage, current, resistance, using analog and digital multimeters, oscilloscope and other currently available measuring instruments.
• Work simulation projects involving the design and construction AC circuits, development of testing procedure to verify the performance specification, diagnosis of faults in the systems and completion of commissioning process. Specifications will be provided with work simulation (team or individual basis) or may be negotiated to suit a workplace based application
Projects may be undertaken as part of a team or individual basis.
It is expected that students would require approximately 20% of course hours to be allocated for independent study to do project research, design, construction, testing and problem solving activities.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment requirements include
• attendance and satisfactory completion of prescribed practical exercises , which may be scheduled during the day or evening depending on the demand.
• evidence of participation in and satisfactory completion of at least 2 work simulation projects.
• satisfactory completion of class assignment work
• progressive tests
• timely submission and standard presentation for all assessment material / documentation
• Written assessment. (50%)
• Assignment/ work performance simulations projects (20%)
• Progressive practical/laboratory exercises (30%)
