Course Description

This unit covers the development of basic keyboard skills using touch typing techniques.

Document is proofread correctly to identify errors.

Keyboard functions identified and applied.

Touch typing technique applied to complete a task.

Speed and accuracy developed in accordance with workplace requirements for level of responsibility.

Element:

Use safe work practices.

Performance Criteria:

Workspace, furniture and equipment are adjusted to suit the ergonomic requirements of the user.

Work organisation meets organisational and occupational health and safety for computer operation.


Learning Outcomes


The expectations are that students will achieve a speed of 45 wpm with 98% accuracy using correct technique. This is consistent with the level of responsibility of an entry-level position in the workplace.


Details of Learning Activities

Students will complete practical exercises in class to help build their speed and accuracy whilst meeting occupational health and safety guidelines.

Assessment Tasks

Students will be given two (2) documents to proofread and correct.
