Course Description
This unit covers the development of basic keyboard skills using touch typing techniques.

Learning Outcomes
The expectations are that students will achieve a speed of 45 wpm with 98% accuracy using correct technique. This is consistent with the level of responsibility of an entry-level position in the workplace.
Details of Learning Activities
Students will complete practical exercises in class to help build their speed and accuracy whilst meeting occupational health and safety guidelines.

Overview of Assessment
Students will complete speed, accuracy and technique tests under supervision.
Assessment Tasks
Students will be given two proofreading exercises to complete in class in Week 14 & 16 and another two in semester 2.
Students will be given the opportunity to complete five, five minute typing tests. Students will be observed by the assessor whilst completing tests to ensure they use correct technique. These assessments will run in the second semester.
