At the end of this course students will demonstate skills and knowledge to investigate and present information on influential designers of the 20th century, and investigate and present information on major events and influences on the fashion industry of the 20th century, conveying all necessary information in an appropriate manner

Overview of Assessment
Assessment will enable studnes to work individually as well as in a group. The assessed learning activities covered are
Assessment 1 - Designer Style profile, Students have the opportunity to investigate a past fashion designer and discuss how the effects of social, cultural and economic forces over a period of time have influenced their designs.
Assessment 2 - Class Assessment Style tribes Presentation, Students will work in a group to research a Style Tribe and discuss what factors may influence the way people dress, and present their findings back to the class

Assessment 1: Designer Style Profile/Folio
Aim: Fashion is evolutionary, not revolutionary. Fashion changes over time and is not necessarily new, a basic design can be changed to form new fashions. The aim of this assessment is to provide students with the opportunity to investigate a past fashion designer and discuss how the effects of social, cultural and economic forces over their period have influenced their designs.

Objectives: Select from the list provided, an influential 20th Century designer, investigate and present information of that designer. Identify influences that may have impacted contemporary fashion today.
1. Provide a detailed profile of your chose designer
Value: 20 %
1.1 Select a 20th century designer, provide life factors, gender, date of birth, nationality
1.2 How and when did they establish their career as a designer?
1.3 Identify their signature style (ie, What style features are they known for?) Provide Images to demonstrate this.
2. Investigate the decade in which the designer was established. Describe the events that may have influenced the designer at the time by answering the following questions

2.1 Identify the major fashion trends of the era. What trends/styles were occurring in fashion at the time? What, if any of these trends did the designer introduce or adopt throughout their collections? Provide Images (photos/sketches etc) of the selected period and from your chosen designer to demonstrate these trends.
2.3 Discuss any significant events that may have impacted on the designer, for example political events, music, fads, myths, economic conditions, social movements, climate, health and safety, changes in work leisure time.
3. Discuss the influences on contemporary fashion today.

Aim: The aim of this assessment is to provide students with the opportunity to investigate a style tribe and discuss what factors influence the way people dress.
