Overview of Assessment

A range of assessments will be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. You will participate in a range of classes and workshops aimed at familiarizing you with key concepts, theories and strategies relating to creative practices, particularly as they relate to screen production projects.
Establishing a web presence as an innovative, functional, sustainable extension of your screen production work environment is integral to assessment.

Assessment Tasks

To demonstrate competency in this course, you will need to complete all the following tasks for assessment to a satisfactory standard.

ASSESSMENT TASKS:

Formative assessment tasks
1. Production plog (production log) survey and design statement.
You will investigate current examples of blogging / vlogging incorporated into specific screen productions.
Report on two examples of web presence that directly involve screen production practice. One of these should be from the examples distributed through course materials provided.
a) Define what you see as their key purposes (virtual workplace,
b) Note what media tools they have used (eg: WordPress, Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook, or something else.)
c) summarise your own design intentions for the production log you will run on the web in conjunction with your major screen production. Briefly clarify:
- how it will be accessed, and by whom,
- how you intend your collaborators (department heads, crew, cast &/or wider community or audience) to use your plog,
- name the headings of the links you will use in your own plog,
- how you intend this to build and sustain creative and innovative practices beyond traditional face to face production meetings.
Presentation in class Due: Week 2.

Summative assessment tasks
2. Establishment of innovative work environment.
You will establish, sustain and build a work environment that incorporates an online presence. This web based work space should augments or drives the communication, concept development, collaboration, management and/or publicity of your creative screen production project.
Online evidence of this will be due week 7. (Published by you in your own plog.)
3. System and work environment evaluation
You will send feedback to two others in your cohort on their attempts to systematically foster innovation in their production.
You will report your experience and evaluation of your own plog in context of innovative work system and environment for your screen production project. Clearly comment on the aims, successes and failures of your plog in relation to each of the following:

1. Concept discussion including your intentions for both face-to-face and virtual work environments in your production project
2. Links to resources that foster innovative approaches to your project
3. Collaborations with key personnel, artists
4. Pro-active sharing of information
5. Production management
6. Access to camera tests / auditions / VFX test results or other media
7. Pre-production briefings
8. Feedback received from people within your cohort or production team.
9. Promotion of collaborators and/or sponsors
10. Potential for promotion to future audiences
11. Changes you would make to your plog in the future
12. Building a professional web presence for key personnel

To be submitted on paper (1 – 3 pages) due: Week 15.
