Course Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage a straightforward project or a section of a larger project.
This unit addresses the management of projects including the development of a project plan, administering and monitoring the project, finalising the project and reviewing the project to identify lessons learnt for application to future projects.
The unit focuses on the application of project management skills and the requirement to meet time lines, quality standards, budgetary limits and other requirements set for the project.

2.5 Consult team members and take their views into account

3.4 Implement and monitor plans for managing project finances, resources (human, physical and technical) and quality
3.5 Complete and forward project reports as required to stakeholders

Teaching Schedule

Please note: While your teacher will cover all the material in this schedule, the weekly order is subject to change depending on class needs and availability of speakers and resources.

The unit will centre around 4 class based sessions, which will include assigning students to individual or group projects. Students will then undertake Sound Production projects in separate sessions, which may include recording performers at Kaliede theatre on Thursdays in 4 hour sessions, or completing Sound Production for Screen productions.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment in this course will be ongoing and a range of assessment will be used to assess participation and knowledge. You will participate in a range of class activities and on location.


Assessment Tasks

Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this unit are graded.

To demonstrate competency in this course, you need to complete each one of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard.

Formative Assessment
1. Complete production for “External Client” – these will be students will provide the production recording at Kalleide theatre
2. Complete final mix of recording

Summative Assessment
1. Provide a project plan, including budget, staffing and risk management for a community event. The project plan is to be presented to the class and be open for review.
