Course Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage a straightforward project or a section of a larger project.
This unit addresses the management of projects including the development of a project plan, administering and monitoring the project, finalising the project and reviewing the project to identify lessons learnt for application to future projects.
The unit focuses on the application of project management skills and the requirement to meet time lines, quality standards, budgetary limits and other requirements set for the project.

Please note: While your teacher will cover all the material in this schedule, the weekly order is subject to change depending on class needs and availability of speakers and resources.
The unit will centre around 4 class based sessions, which will include assigning students to individual or group projects. Students will then undertake Sound Production projects in separate sessions, which may include recording performers at Kaliede theatre on Thursdays in 4 hour sessions, or completing Sound Production for Screen productions.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment in this course will be ongoing and a range of assessment will be used to assess participation and knowledge. You will participate in a range of class activities and on location.
Assessment Tasks
You must submit all pieces of assessment in order for your competency to be assessed in this course.
Assessment tasks in this course are either formative or summative. Formative tasks provide the basis for ongoing feedback and can be considered essential building blocks for the more substantial summative assessment tasks. Summative assessment tasks in this unit are graded.

To demonstrate competency in this course, you need to complete each one of the following pieces of assessment to a satisfactory standard.
Formative assessments must all reach satisfactory completion to complete this unit. The formative assessments form an intrinsic part of the summative assessment.
Formative Assessment
1) Provide Sound Prodution for Screen based project with Screen & Media students and/orstudents or similar clients on Screen based media (week 16)
2) OR work on other related project management exercise as agreed with lecturer (week 16)
Summative Assessment
A) Provide a project plan, including budget, staffing and risk management for the project(s) listed in formative assessments. The project plan is to be presented to the class and be open for review. (week 16)

The major learning experience involves theory and practical training and assessment sessions, including individual and group practical exercises. It is strongly advised that you attend all sessions in order to engage in the required learning activities, ensuring the maximum opportunity to achieve competency in this unit.

Work Placement:
It is a requirement of this program that all students participate in authentic work related tasks. These may be either simulated or in a real work environment. On occasion, we are approached by industry and given opportunities for students to apply for short term placements. When these placement opportunities arise, students are required to negotiate the specific details with the relevant program coordinator or teacher. All industry placements require students, RMIT staff and host organisations to sign a written agreement prior to the commencement of the placement.
