Course Description
This unit covers the design of printed circuit boards. The unit encompasses application of knowledge of electronic circuits, components, component assemblies, developing alternative design schemes based on design brief, customer relations and documenting designs.

Details of Learning Activities
This unit shall be demonstrated using AUTOCAD computational software packages which covers applications in Electrical Engineering. This unit aims to enhance students engineering skills using these software packages. Students will participate in a variety of teaching methods including: lectures, tutorials,practicals, class discussion, group/individual work on projects, audio-visual presentations, and interaction with individuals and groups within the Telecommunications area.

Overview of Assessment
This is a progressive assessment, the students are required to undertake summative assessments as follows:
• Drawing assessments
• CAD design simulation projects
Assessment Tasks
Assessment task1: 40%
Assessment task 1 will be a set of practical exercises based on AUTOCAD Software. All these exercises need to be completed by week 10. The practical exercises are accumulative ones and will be graded on submission of all laboratory reports. These practical exercises will be available on learning hub and student’s local drive.
Laboratory exercise-1: 5%
Laboratory exercise-2: 10%
Laboratory exercise-3: 10%
Laboratory exercise-4: 10%
Laboratory exercise-5: 5%
Assessment task 2: 20%
Assessment task 2 will be a student project based on AUTOCAD. All these exercises need to be completed by week 16. These practical exercises will be available on learning hub and student’s local drive.
Assessment task 3 : 40%
A practical test will be held on week 18 based on all the learning aspects (AUTOCAD Software) of these competencies.
Note: There will be penalty for late submissions.
This course is graded using the following course grades:
80 - 100: CHD - Competent with High Distinction
70 - 79: CDI - Competent with Distinction
60 - 69: CC - Competent with Credit
50 - 59: CAG - Competency Achieved - Graded
0 - 49: NYC - Not Yet Competent

This course is delivered in a cluster (AutoCAD) in conjunction with "EEET6764C Design printed circuit boards" and OFFC5195C "Use basic computer applicaitons relevant to a workplace". All the learning and assessment activities will include the components of both competencies UEENEED004B and UEENEED001B.
In this cluster, minimum student directed hours are 24 in addition to 36 scheduled teaching hours.
Student directed hours involve completing activities such as reading online resources, assignments, project work, individual student-teacher course-related consultation, and writing lab reports.

Late submission:
