Course Description

This unit covers selecting appropriate materials and materials and  components tests for aeronautical engineering applications.

Students will participate in a variety of teaching methods including: lectures, tutorials,practicals, class discussion, group/individual work on projects, and interaction with individuals and groups as required.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including written/oral activities and demonstration of practical skills to the relevant industry standards. Participants are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment activities to their teacher/assessor. Feedback will be provided throughout the course.


Assessment Tasks

There are three assessment tasks that you have to achive competency:

Task 1: Lab Report, 40%

Task 2: Mid term test, 30%

Task 3: Final test, 30%

Please note: only if you have achieved competency in all three assessments then you will be given the following gradings:


CHD Competent with High Distinction
CDI Competent with Distinction
CC Competent with Credit
CAG Competency Achieved – Graded

Otherwises NYC or DNS will be entered as your final results:
