Course Description

This unit of competency covers applying advanced scientific principles to aeronautical engineering situations.
This unit applies to selecting and applying advanced aeronautical scientific principles and techniques.
Computer techniques, graphical methods and mathematical calculations should complement scientific principles chosen and include unit analysis, appropriate precision and accuracy and use conservative estimations.

Students will participate in a variety of learning methods such as lectures, tutorials, classroom discussion  and assessment tasks.

 


Teaching Schedule

Please note: while your teacher will cover all the materials in the schedule, the weekly teaching and assessment order is subject to change. Students are required to spend 20 hours as students directed learning for this course.


Week 1-2: Introduction and Overview of the Course, Physics fundamentals.

Week 2-5: Digital electronics fundamentals.

Week 5-8: Stress Analysis.

Week 8-10: Mechanics of Flight.

Week 10-12: Aircraft dynamic stability. 

Week 12-14: Aircraft Mechanisms.

Week 14: Revision.

Week 15: Final Exam.
