Course Description
This competency covers the outcomes required to effectively measure current resource use and carry out improvements including those reducing negative environmental impacts of work practices.
This unit is based on the sustainability guideline standard GCSSUS01A Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices.

Details of Learning Activities
You will be working in a classroom and using the workshop area as a simulated workplace.
The total number of scheduled hours of teaching, learning and assessment involved in this course includes all planned activities (face to face computer laboratory sessions and online learning). It also covers the amount of effort necessary to undertake, evaluate and complete all assessment requirements, observation of work performance, discussions with teacher and one on one and group assessment sessions with students.

Overview of Assessment
A person who demonstrates competence in this unit must be able to provide evidence of the ability to follow workplace procedures according to instructions given and to participate in the improvement of environmental and resource efficient work practices at employee’s own level of responsibility. Evidence must be strictly relevant to the particular workplace role.
Assessment Tasks
Assessment Tasks 2 assessments:
1st Group assignment (weighting 50%)
2nd Individual test (weighting 50%)
Only the above assessments contribute to the final result for this course.

Competency requirements:
To be deemed competent students must satisfactorily demonstrate competence in all elements listed above. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over multiple tasks.
Students are advised that they will be asked to demonstrate their competence per class observation, student assignments and tests which will be used to assess their competence.
All assessments for this course must be successfully completed to achieve a CA (Competency Achieved) grade. Only if Competency is achieved will a graded result be given using the coding choices below:

Please note: while your teacher will cover all the materials in the schedule, the weekly teaching and assessment order is subject to change depending on class needs and the availability of resources. Students are required to self-study the learning materials and complete the out of classroom activities during the non-classroom time.

Extensions (up to 7 days):
Students requiring extensions of up to 7 calendar days (from the original due date) must complete and lodge an Application for Extension of Submittable Work (7 Calendar Days or less) form and lodge it with the Senior Educator/ Program Manager.
The application must be lodged no later than one working day before the official due date. The student will be notified within no more than 2 working days of the date of lodgement as to whether the extension has been granted.
