Teaching Schedule
The class is scheduled for delivery to the Student Prosthetist group in the Lecture theatre of Building 154 RMIT (within the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne) Notification will be provided via student email if the date or location change. Delivery of the unit of competence (HLTIN301C/HWSS5655C Comply with Infection Control, is also scheduled for delivery on this day)
Following the delivery of the theory class, practical exercises will be undertaken in the DHSV dental clinic and RMIT laboratory spaces
Class schedules are detailed in the timetables provided on Blackboard (they may be subject to change at the discretion of RMIT, in this event notification will be provided to your student email);
Practical classes will be delivered in the simulated environment at RMIT where the Teacher will provide demonstration and assistance as you simulate treatment of fellow students within your cohort and patients form the DHSV and construct the appliances. You are required to observe all WHS requirements as you undertake the exercises and when you are present in and around the DHSV clinic/laboratories.

Overview of Assessment
Clinical observation. Practical observation. Practice manual OHS procedures.
Assessment Tasks
Your assessment will be graded with either a Px(Satisfactory) or NYC(Not Satisfactory) according to the assessment guidelines in accordance with the training package elements and essential skills.
Your assessments tasks will consist of :
Word processed patient record report for every patient treated (Case Histories) A complete journal of experience in relation to outcomes of simulated practical training and clinical experience placement - All documents due no later than 2 weeks after a patients’ final visit.

Perform elements and performance criteria of competence as designated for this unit of competence to the required standard consistently across a range of variables during clinical placement. Completion of an assignment that is issued during the theory session.
- All practical classes undertaken (I.e. exercises/assessments) require you to adhere to WHS requirements and you risk being deemed NYC if you do not operate within these requirements.

You will be advised by your teacher of the assessment due date which will be no less than one month after the final theory delivery date.

Non completion or non-submission of compulsory tasks:
Failure to complete any or all of the compulsory tasks listed above will prevent the student from achieving a CA (competency achieved) result for unit HLTWHS300A/HWSS5707C Contribute to WHS Processes . This will result in the student not completing the unit successfully. NYC (not yet competent) will be recorded and re enrolment will be required to continue the unit/program. Fees will be incurred. Please note: A second opportunity for assessment will not be granted unless the student has applied for and been granted special consideration as per RMIT assessment policy.
Assessment Appeal Process:
The Appeals Against Assessment policy and procedure applies to all coursework programs in all careers. The appeal process is staged and students are required to follow each stage in order to ensure their full entitlement to appeal is available http://www1.rmit.edu.au/students/appeals
Students are required to support the learning outcomes this Unit with work based experience and/ or further self managed research to support positive outcomes in this Unit.
To undertake practical exercises and /or assessment students MUST present for the assessment process as follows:

In appropriate practical class attire (Protective clothing for legs - if shorts, must cover knees, lab coat, safety glasses)
Fully covered in leather(not suede) footwear
Hair to be contained by tying back or in appropriate hair cover.
No artificial fingernails to be worn
The wearing of henna is acceptable.
Short, clean fingernails (no nail polish)
No jewellery to be worn on the hands or wrists. Wedding rings or jewellery that cannot be removed for cultural reasons must be taped with an appropriate waterproof tape
All cuts/ skin abrasions on the hands or wrists must be covered with a waterproof dressing
A student that is non-compliant with any of the above requirements will not be permitted to undertake practical exercises or assessment at the scheduled time. The student will be rescheduled to undertake assessment at a later date.
