Course Description

In this course you will develop, skills and knowledge required to research and explore selected visual art techniques including digital art, printmaking, painting and sculpture and integrate their use into your own creative practice. This course requires a higher level of skill and development and a thorough investigation of art making processes.

  • Demonstrate a knowledge and practice of appropriate Occupational Health & Safety rules in a studio environment.


Details of Learning Activities

Your learning activities will take place in a studio. You will complete exercises and industry style projects. You will also be required to undertake independent study.

RMIT will provide you with resources and tools for learning in this course through our online systems. Learning resources include access to the studios and computer laboratories and relevant software. You will also be expected to make use of the library resources.
In this course, you learn through:

This course is clustered and delivered in conjunction with VART6313C Extend expertise in a specialised art form to professional level.

The course provdies individual specilisation in four areas whcih include painting, printmaking, sculpture and digital art.

All finishing students will complete a resolved print for exchange.
It is required that you submit an editionable print (i.e no unique states) and that your print edition is of an acceptable standard in order for it to be included in the folio. Please speak to staff if you have any concerns regarding this element of the folio requirements.
The edition number will be confirmed ASAP in Semester 2.

Concept development briefs. Students are required to expand and elaborate concept development from their Semester one dialogue.

Written dialogue minimum of 300 words clearly stating intentions for creating new work in Semester 2. Students will be encouraged to continue writing and developing their personal dialogue throughout the semester in order to create continuity and research and assist staff with an ongoing dialogue.
