Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to manage the production of sound recordings from planning through to post-production.

It applies to individuals who are responsible for managing the production of sound recordings, including planning and monitoring rehearsals and recording sessions, engaging specialists where required, and overseeing and evaluating the quality of finished recordings.

RMIT provides all of the analogue and digital recording hardware and software required to undertake this subject.

Recordings are made available for Semester 2 where they can be elected to be used for the Analogue Tape Transfer and Mixing exercise as per the requirements of other subject(s) within the Advanced Diploma program. Teaching staff will provide further information on this where relevant.


Overview of Assessment

Assessment will be made through practical project application. This will include recordings of live performances, followed by final studio project completion.
