Course Description

In this course you will cover skills and knowledge required to develop the conceptual aspects of your creative practice, through the processes of evaluation, critical thinking and research.

Write a short description of an animation / motion graphics concept for each piece of music.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge of course content is assessed through participation in practical exercises, knowledge assessment tasks and practical projects.


Assessment Tasks

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency.  To be assessed competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace. To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

C6151IM Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media - Interactive Media, Assessment Tasks

AT1 Develop a concept 1

Undertake the preproduction processes for an animation / motion graphics inspired by a 30 seconds piece of music. It can include: characters, or be completely abstract - it is entirely up to you.

You will undertake research, developmental steps, collaboration with other students to come up with a storyboard, animatic and at least 5 - 10 seconds of the animation completed. (If you have time, you should try and complete this animation as it may make an excellent folio piece.)

Due week 7

AT2 Develop a concept 2

In semester 2 you will undertake an independent creative project in Undertake Project Work Course. In this assessment you will be doing some of the concept development for that project.

Due week 13

AT3 Finalise preproduction and review

In this assessment you will finalise the script (linear projects) / project treatment (interactive projects) based on feedback you received during the AT2 Pitch presentation as well as other preproduction requirements. You will also reflect on the process of developing scripts, concepts, and how it impacts on your role in the digital media industry.r concept.

Due week 16

 

C6151 Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media, Film and Television Production, Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1- Evaluation and Reflection. This assessment is in three parts. Part A - you must answer each of the reflection questions. Part B - you will take part in a collective feedback discussion in order to evaluate own practice. Part C - collaborative group evaluation to give and receive feedback, develop ideas and evaluate own work. Due Date: week 6

Assessment Task 2 - Integrating Ideas and Practice. You will produce material in the process of designing, conducting and modifying a series of trials in the creative practice specialisation you have chosen. Due Date: week 15

Assessment in this course uses the following grades:
