Course Description

In this course you will research and incorporate sustainable design practices and knowledge into a communication outcome. This investigation will respond to a brief that requires you to creatively apply industry specific sustainable information, incorporating effective sustainable practice into the solution.

1.1 Assess source of materials used in current practice, taking account of their origin and abundance

1.4 Analyse and address existing and potential environmental risks and hazards in the workplace

2.1 Use sustainable work practices across all areas of activity

2.2 Explore use of alternative sources of materials, including recycled products where possible

Overview of Assessment

Assessment is on-going throughout the course. Assessment tasks will require you demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills through practical projects and/or exercises and activities. The assessment tasks are:
Sustainable project and checklist.

An assessment charter summarises your responsibilities as an RMIT student as well as those of your teachers.

 


Assessment Tasks

This course has one major assignment/project. All coursework must be completed to a satisfactory standard and demonstrate the required learning outcomes. All tasks will be assessed for competency first, and then graded on completion of the coursework.

Project -

DUE WEEK 12 : Project 1ENV - GD Sustainability assignment

Research and investigation into current and emerging sustainable practices for the graphic design industry including: materials and processes, green printing options, etc., that are then applied in the development of a design outcome/s.

DUE WEEK 15/16 : Review of coursework

At the completion of the course, grading will be offered in addition to, and after, competency based assessment.
