Course Description
The unit Maintain and Apply Creative Arts Industry Knowledge develops the knowledge you need to understand and work within the Screenwriting industry. It also gives you the skills to develop and apply basic industry practices within the creative arts industries, via networking and enhanced personal insight.

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights to your writing tasks
Assessment Tasks
Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace. To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Assessment 1: Team presentation (CUAIND502: Elements: 1, 2, 3)
Due: Week 5 (13 March)
As a team, please collaborate on putting together a 10 minute visual/oral presentation about an Award-season screenplay
Assessment 2: Group facilitation & presentation of Industry Forum (CUAIND502: Elements: 1, 2, 3)
Due: Week 12 (8 May)
You will work as a group with fellow students to organise and present a forum with industry guest speakers on topics relating to key industry sectors, the work of screenwriters and other professionals, and current industry issues.
Assessment 3: Copyright and legal issues: case study response (CUACMP301: Elements: 1, 2, 3)
Due: Week 10 (26 April)
Please discuss and give a considered response to the questions raised in the allotted case studies.
Assessment 4: Individual report evaluating effectiveness and key questions across a range of forums: group debrief (CUAIND502: Elements: 1, 2, 3)

Participate in and contribute effectively to a group debriefing session in class, which evaluates the effectiveness, overall success and other key questions relating to a range of the semester’s forums.

This test is a checklist of relevant legal and copyright issues for the screenwriter.
Once you have achieved competency for all assessments in a unit of competency, you will receive an overall result. If you have not completed an assessment task to a satisfactory standard, you will be given an opportunity to resubmit that task within one week of receiving feedback from your teacher. If the resubmission is deemed unsatisfactory, the matter will be referred to the Program Coordinator.
