This course requires a range of competencies involving management, according to store policies, of the store merchandising plan and store presentation.

Details of Learning Activities
Identify, and evaluate promotional and display trends used by a number of TCF retailers via field trips, group discussion, and practical exercises.
• Case studies observing the policies & procedures of TCF merchandising.
• Demonstrating broad understanding of content delivered in group discussions to aid in the development of the Promotional Calendar / Display.
• Visual presentations (slides-store layout and display) and other action or experiential learning activities.
• TCF industry based mentoring through allocated company in relation to designated industry brief.
• TCF retail industry based mentoring through individual window

Overview of Assessment
Students will be required to demonstrate learnt skills through the construction of small scale displays in class in preparation for their projects. They will develop a promotional calendar outlining seasonal changes in merchandise and displays for a company using appropriate soft-wear, and display one promotion in a mock window on campus. Students will work on two industry projects, one that will allow them to develop a window concept communicated through a storyboard to an industry brief, and the other that will require the development of a store manual along with a window display for a specific target market in industry.
