Course Description

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to read and interpret plans and specifications applicable to medium rise residential and commercial projects in order to inform estimation, planning and supervisory activities.
This unit of competency supports the needs of site managers, forepersons, estimators, builders, managers and other building and construction industry personnel responsible for ensuring the currency of plans and specifications and for reading and interpreting these for application to estimation, planning and related supervisory activities.

5.4. Building codes or standards affecting the work to be undertaken are identified, including references to Australian standards and the Building Code of Australia (BCA).

Students will learn through a number of planned activities. They include On campus lessons, workshop projects, workplace & site visits,
simulated workplace learning, Online learning via blackboard and other elearning platforms. students will be observed and assessed through planned activites throughout the duration of the course.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including written/oral activities and demonstration of practical skills to the relevant industry standards. Participants are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment activities to their teacher/assessor. Feedback will be provided throughout the course.
