Course Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to participate in workplace occupational health and safety (OHS) consultative processes.
Consultative arrangements, also referred to as participative arrangements, inform those involved in OHS matters, seek their input and provide opportunity for stakeholders to participate in decisions that may impact on the OHS of the workplace.

Learning Outcomes

Activities in this course aim to enhance your understanding of the relevant OHS laws, policies and procedures in the workplace, the IT industry and your organisation, and identify the responsibilities of those involved in the OHS consultative process.

You will also learn how to participate in meetings in the workplace where OHS issues are raised.

The Internet will be used as a learning tool and a resource for students to seek and locate relevant information.
 

Overview of Assessment

Assessment will consist of a range of class and work-based activities and an assignment.

You must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.

Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, workplace activities, in class exercises, quizzes, practical problem solving exercises and presentations. You are advised that you are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate your assessment work to your teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.
