Course Description
This unit covers activities associated with the selection and checking of raw materials for use in textile production. These activities are conducted within the context of product and process specifications, and with an empahasis on recording and reporting practices.

There are no pre-requisites but students undetrtaking this course are adivsed to be concurrently enrolled in VART 5910C Apply Manipulation Techniques to Create Experimental Textile Samples, whihc will enable a practical outcome for this competency.

Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this course you will have demonstrated your ability to select raw materials, check raw materials and report on them.
Learning is integrated with textile design and production projects undertaken as a part of VART 5910C Apply Manipulation Techniques to Create Experimental Textile Samples throughout the duration of the course.
Throughout this process your underpinning skills and knowledge will be developed, and you may be requested to demonstrate this in relation to selection of specific materials.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment will be in the form of observation of your ability to select appropriate raw materials, check raw materials and report on those raw materials in association with projects delivered in VART 5910C Apply Manipulation Techniques to Create Experimental Textile Samples.
You will be required to demonstrate for underpinning knowledge of the selection of raw materials throughout these projects..
