Course Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to design, implement and oversee performance management systems. It includes developing and managing ongoing performance feedback strategies and conducting formal performance feedback meetings. The unit also includes specific intervention associated with under-performance or misconduct. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement.

This unit applies to individuals with a well-established theoretical knowledge of human resources management and performance management who are proficient in using a range of specialised technical and managerial techniques to plan, carry out and evaluate their own work and the work of a team. They may or may not have staff who report to them, but they are authorised to establish an effective performance management system for an organisation.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, homework, assignments, group and/or individual projects, in class exercises, written and practical assessments, problem solving exercises, presentations, direct observation of actual and simulated work practice, presentation of portfolio of evidence which may comprise documents, and/or photographs and/or video and audio files, review of products produced through work based or course activities.

Teachers are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met. Students will be provided with feedback throughout the course to check their progress.
