Course Description
Show control systems are designed to store, play back and control audio, video and digital images as well as other inputs eg. computers or video servers. In this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to manage the set up and operation of show control systems.

Details of Learning Activities
Out of-class self-directed learner activities for this course include but are not limited to: additional equipment practice sessions, private research at selected equipment websites and revision of notes to reinforce classroom content. These activities will be monitored during class through question/answer sessions.

Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course involves both written and practical tasks. These include the development and interpretation of a client brief through to the successful execution of a show control performance for :
- a corporate style presentation in a simulated environment
- a mock theatre performance in a simulated environment.
Assessment Tasks
This unit of competency is assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment. To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessment to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

There are two assessment tasks for this course:
Assessment task #1
The Corporate Gig
To demonstrate competency of the required knowledge evidence for this unit, over the course of four classes, both in and away from class, you will complete a series of tasks and leaning’s to successfully execute a show control performance for a mock corporate presentation in a simulated environment.

Assessment task #2
The Theatre Gig
To demonstrate competency of the required knowledge evidence for this unit, over the course of 8 classes, working both in and away from class, you will complete a series of tasks and learnings to successfully execute a show control performance for short dramatic work using Ableton Live as a show control device.
