Course Description
This course describes the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the care of a person with chronic health problems by performing nursing interventions that support the person’s needs and assist them in maintaining an optimal lifestyle.
This course applies to enrolled nursing work carried out in consultation and collaboration with registered nurses, and under supervisory arrangements aligned to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia regulatory authority legislative requirements.
This course includes a Work Integrated Learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.
This course includes clinical placement.

Learning Outcomes
The critical learning for this course takes place in clinical placement within the health sector and within simulations in RMIT laboratories.
You will be instructed in skills through demonstration, modelling and role-play. Skills development is supported by lectures on theory and underpinning knowledge, classroom discussions, group work, research and reflective practice.
On completion of this course you should be able to:

Details of Learning Activities
Class room teaching will include: PowerPoint presentations, group discussions, role-play, e-learning and a professional conference presentation on cancer nursing by Clinical Nurse Specialist Educator.
Students will undertake self directed learning to revise former courses and to consolidate their new knowledge.
Students will learn how to utilise knowledge and skills taught within the module to undertake their own learning regarding other chronic illnesses they may encounter on clinical placement and in future nursing work.

This assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including written, oral, practical tasks and activities.
You will be asked to personally demonstrate to your teacher/assessor the practical skills gained during this course to the relevant industry standards. Assessment activities will occur throughout this course and feedback will be provided at regular intervals

Assessment Task Summary HLTENN012 Implement & monitor care for a person with chronic health problems This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the care of a person with chronic health problems by performing nursing interventions that support the person’s needs and assist them in maintaining an optimal lifestyle. This course applies to enrolled nursing work carried out in consultation and collaboration with registered nurses, and under supervisory arrangements aligned to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia regulatory authority legislative requirements. This course includes clinical placement in both primary care, hospital and rehabilitation centres. On completion of this unit you will have demonstrated that you are competent in the following elements as outlined in the Training Package. You will be able to: There are 3 assessment tasks that you must successfully complete in order to be deemed competent in this unit: Assessment Task 1: Online quizzes Weekly quizzes to assess essential knowledge required for the successful completion of this course. Assessment Task 2: Practical assessment Simulation lab assessment. The student will analyse health information and the clinical presentation of 1 person in a simulated environment to reach an accurate conclusion on possible nursing interventions related to their chronic health conditions, in consultation with a registered nurse. Assessment Task 3:Clinical Placement Completion of Clinical placement log book to demonstrate the student has performed nursing interventions in the workplace to contribute to the support of 2 people who have chronic health problems.
You needed to be graded satisfactory on each assessment to be deemed competent for this course.

Other Information
You are permitted to have a maximum of 2 resbumissions for this course, however each individual assessment may only be resubmitted once. Resubmissions are not automatic and will only be approved at the discretion of the program coordinator after consultation with the teacher.
All resubmissions must be completed and submitted no more than 7 days after your work has been assessed. Please note an opportunity to repeat clinical placement is not guaranteed and will be at the discretion of the Clinical Coordinator/Program Manager.Course Overview: Access Course Overview
