Course Description

This unit covers the competency to produce drawings required in the construction of urban roads, to the standards of AS 1100.401 and relevant ‘AUSROADS’ publications.


Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

EDC040 – Perform measurements and layout tasks on construction sites
EDX060 – Prepare basic mechanical and civil engineering drawings to AS 1100
EDC050 – Prepare drawings required in the construction of rural roads

This unit will be assessed in the CAD laboratory using holistic assessment based on typical workplace activities as follows :

Drafting projects based on the following:

  • Contour plan
  • Pavements, kerbs and symbols
  • Horizontal alignment
  • Longitudinal section
  • Cross sections
  • Urban Road Intersection
