Course Description

This course builds upon the knowledge and skills from fundamental Telecommunication Networks A. The learner will further examine the emerging technologies which applicable to Australian Telecommunications and Electronic Communications systems. Learner will explore and integrate theoretical and practical knowledge to manage networks and resources for selected applications.

1.1 Initial need for electronic equipment to enhance new or existing telecommunications network is determined from telecommunications project plan
1.2 Specific purpose of equipment is determined
1.3 Need for additional network equipment is ascertained
1.4 Where customer has initiated the need, customer is consulted in accordance with enterprise policy

Performance Criteria:

2.1 Network is analysed in light of service requirements, possible impacts, and other relevant data
2.2 Options for the system design are generated that are realistic for the enterprise and the network
2.3 Evaluation and selection of preferred option is based on enterprise criteria
2.4 Option selected satisfies enterprise business strategy outcomes and enterprise service policy
2.5 Where customer has initiated the need, selected option is discussed with customer

3.1 Compatibility of each equipment unit with the other installed units and their intended use is determined from the system plans, equipment manuals, installation environment and industry knowledge
