Course Description
This unit specifies the outcome required by frontline managers to facilitate all aspects of team work within the organisation. It involves taking a leadership role in the development of team plans, leading and facilitating team work ant actively engaging with the management of the organisation.

Details of Learning Activities
Practical work will be assessed under conditions which simulate the normal work environment.
Progressive assessments will include oral and written demonstration, simulation role-plays, computer assisted learning, observation of group discussions, assignment and projects.
This will include:
• Classroom group discussions to analyse a specified competency and underpinning knowledge
• Consultations with the teacher to identify gaps in one’s skills and knowledge in the specified area
• Maintaining training diary to document training activities and achievements
• Practical demonstrations of achieved competency

Overview of Assessment
Progressive assessments will include oral and written demonstration, simulation role-plays, computer assisted learning, observation of group discussions, assignment and projects. Practical work will be assessed under conditions which simulate the normal work environment.
Assessment Tasks
Assessment task 1- Team consultation process - 25%
In this assessment task you are required to prepare a report to senior management on the team consultation process in your organisation.
Assessment task 2 - Designing a performance review process - 25%
In this assessment task you are asked to design a performance review process for your team. You must ensure that the process provides an opportunity for mutual communication between staff and the organisation and the setting of mutual goals.
Assessment task 3 - Managerial ethics - 25%
Managers and team leaders must be role models for their people; in this activity you will focus on the ethical role managers and team leaders take within your organisation and the team. It also addresses how support may be given to team members by way of openly discussing organisational values.
Assessment task 4 - The communication flow - 25%
In this activity you will examine communication from managers and team leaders and communication from team members to managers and team leaders. It also addresses the concept of unresolved issues within the team environment and what action could be taken in resolving those issues.
