Course Description
This unit is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to enable the participant to prepare for Myotherapy treatment and to negotiate with client the planning of Myotherapy treatment.

Details of Learning Activities
Learning activities will be offered in a range of ways including practical demonstration, supervised practice, group discussion, written exercises, case study investigations and online learning.

Hydraulic tables and consumables required for musculoskeletal treatment and assessment and myofascial dry needling are provided by the Program.
Exercise equipment required for rehabilitation and exercise prescription is provided by the program.
Overview of Assessment
Assessment for this course forms part of the Advanced Diploma Remedial Massage (Myotherapy).
Primary assessment involves on-going practical and applied assessment in a clinical workplace or simulated environment such as a supervised student clinic.
Assessment is typically based around written and/or online tests, assignments, reflective journals, evidence portfolio’s, logbooks and/or practical demonstrations.
Competency based training requires the student to be in attendance in order for assessment to be undertaken.
Assessment is undertaken through successful completion of all assessment activities and classroom, project & industry participation.
Assessments are spaced across the duration of the course, in order for your teacher to provide you with progressive feedback.
Feedback will be provided throughout the semester in class and/or online discussions, through individual and group feedback on practical exercises and by individual consultation.

All practical classes have an 80% attendance requirement.

1. Practical Assessments:
Practical assessment of anatomy, physiology, clinical assessment & treatment skills, relevant theory, OH&S and Infection control will be conducted in normal classes as per dates listed on the Learning Schedule
2. Written Assessments:
Written assessments of course material will occur as per dates listed on the Learning Schedule. Tests will be online and off line. The pass mark for written assessments is 70%.
3. A Musculo-skeletal research project: 3000 words. Due: Monday May 27st 2013
A pathology to research will be assigned to each student in week 1 semester 1.
4. Class Presentation:
Students will be required to deliver a 20 minute verbal PowerPoint presentation of the major elements of their Musculo-skeletal research project to the class beginning in Week 9 Semester 2 2013
5. Poster Presentation:
Students will be required to present the major elements of their Musculo-skeletal research project in a Presentation Poster form due: week 15 Semester 2
