Course Description

This unit of competency describes the application of in-depth level of knowledge of medicine and pharmacology required to analyse, interpret a patient’s medical history and available health information to prevent and/or safely manage a medical emergency.

Research medical conditions and influence on oral tissues and dental treatment

Familiarize with the MIMS online https://www.mimsonline.com.au/

Utilize MIMS online to obtain relevant information regarding medications, indications for use; contraindications and influence of oral tissues and dental treatment.


In a supervised clinical environment perform:
• Client history taking

 

Participate in case study discussions on health history, administered drugs and related medical and dental implications


Teaching Schedule

Classes will commence in Semester 2 and be delivered in 3 hour blocks. Each class will include teacher led presentations, workbook activities, group collaboration and self directed learning opportunities
