Course Description

This unit covers the use of drawings, diagrams, cable schedules, standards, codes and specifications as they apply to the various electrotechnology work functions. It encompasses the rudiments for communicating with schematic, wiring and mechanical diagrams and equipment and cable/connection schedules, manuals, site and architectural drawings and plans showing the location of services, apparatus, plant and machinery and understanding the use and format of compliance standards and job specifications.

Details of Learning Activities

This course EEET 6995C (UEENEEE107A) is delivered in a cluster (Drawing) in conjunction with OHTH 5729C (UEENEEE101A). This unit aims to enhance students manual drawing skills and capabilities to read manuals & standards.  In this cluster, minimum student directed hours are 24 in addition to 36 scheduled teaching hours.


NOTE: Students are advised to bring stationery for the Manual Drawing Class.

Overview of Assessment

The assessment is conducted in both theoretical and practical aspects of the course according to the performance criteria set in the National Training Package. Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including written/oral activities and demonstration of practical skills to the relevant industry standards. Participants are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment activities to their teacher/assessor. Feedback will be provided throughout the course. To successfully complete this course you will be required to demonstrate competency in each assessment task detailed under Assessment Tasks:

Assessment Tasks

Assessment task 1 (Class Labs) : 40% You will complete drawing  labs during the class and submit to your teacher for assessment

Assessment task 2 (Assignment): 20% It will be assessed according to individual task criteria. All Laboratory exercises will be taken undertaken according to safe working practise as specified by the centre and performed according to specified laboratory standards and practice. Issued in Week 10 and Due in Week 16.


Assessment task 3 (Practical Test): 40% - week 17/18
Practical test to demonstrate an understanding of Electrical drawing.

All assessment tasks need to be successfully completed to demonstrate competence.

All the learning and assessment activities will include the components of both competencies “UEENEEE101A Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace” and “UEENEEE107A Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes and specifications”.
