Course Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop keyboard skills with speed and accuracy using touch typing techniques. This unit applies to individuals who work in a range of environments and are required to enter text and data with speed and accuracy.

Overview of Assessment

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit

In order to demonstrate competency in this unit, you must provide evidence of:

* producing word processed documents
* typing with 98% accuracy assessed under test conditions in line with the current version of AS 2708:2001 Keyboarding speed tests
* knowledge of relevant legislation.
 

Context for assessment

Assessment must ensure:

* access to office equipment and resources
* access to samples of word processed documents and organisational style guides
* that it is in accordance with the current version of AS 2708:2001 Keyboarding speed tests, which specifies the test material, the equipment, the environment and how to conduct and score the test* access to samples of word processed documents and organisational style guides
* that a speed statement be issued to individuals assessed as competent against the unit.

You are advised that you are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate your assessment work to your teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.
