Purpose of the Program
In the program Bachelor of Business (Professional Accountancy) you will develop the knowledge and skills required of professionally qualified accountants. The broad curriculum in the program covers accounting, finance, economics, marketing, management, with the focus on professional training in accounting as a social practice. The program develops the knowledge and skills valued by employers and which you require to operate successfully in a contemporary business environment. In the third year of this program you will have the opportunity to apply and consolidate your knowledge and skills in a practical workplace setting. Upon completion of your practical placement, you will employ the tools and experiences gained to innovate, design and solve business related problems in two business design project courses.
In the final year of the program the capstone courses ACCT1028 Strategic Accounting and Leadership, BUSM4369 Accounting Business Design Project 1 and BUSM4370 Accounting Business Design Project 2 provide you with a capstone experience. These courses enable you to critically reflect on and consolidate your theoretical and practical learning in this program, and promote work readiness or entry into graduate studies for further learning.
This program will prepare you to work as a professional accountant in diverse organisations. This program is available for on-campus study only.

If you have completed studies or have partially completed a similar program at another institution (with entry criteria similar to this program) may be accepted with some credits or exemptions being granted towards this program.
Credit pathways between RMIT University VET programs, Higher Education Diplomas & Associate Degrees in the same or related discipline, enable you upon successful completion of a lower level qualification, at the required standard for admission, to apply for advanced standing in a higher level qualification.

Semester 2, 2021 was the final intake for BP129 Bachelor of Business (Professional Accountancy).
Applicants with recent secondary education (current and within the past two years):
Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 senior secondary certificate of education or equivalent. If applicable, this includes equity access schemes and any other adjustment factors.
Vocational Education and Training study applicants:
Successful completion of an Australian Diploma or Advanced Diploma or equivalent overseas qualification.
Higher Education Diploma applicants:
Successful completion of an Australian Higher Education Diploma or equivalent overseas qualification with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 / 60% Weighted Average Mark (WAM).
Associate Degree applicants:
Domestic applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of four courses in an Australian Associate Degree with GPA converted to ATAR and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.
International applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of an Australian Associate Degree.
All Bachelor Degree applicants:
Domestic applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of two courses in an Australian Bachelor Degree with GPA converted to ATAR and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.
International applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of four courses in an Australian Bachelor Degree with a GPA of 2.0 and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.
Open Universities Australia (OUA) applicants:
Successful completion of two Open Universities Australia higher education units with a GPA of 2.0.
Entrance requirements for international onshore applicants:
All non-Australian residents and overseas full-fee paying students are required to meet RMIT English language requirements. For more information on these requirements see English Language Requirements at RMIT.
Applicants with Work and Life experience:
You may satisfy the academic requirements by completing the STAT multiple choice. If you are applying to RMIT as an applicant with work or life experience, you may sit the STAT multiple choice if you:
- are 19 years of age or over as of 1 January in the year in which you will start your studies and
- have not been enrolled in secondary studies for at least two years and
- have no prior secondary school (Year 12), VET studies, HE studies or relevant work experience that can be considered for entry, or these do not meet the minimum academic requirements for the program
STAT results are valid for two years prior to the commencement of study and can be used to meet Year 12 English prerequisites. You are still required to meet all other program prerequisites or equivalents.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees
Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
