Purpose of the Program

The studies in Arts Management are structured to maximise the prior learning of each student and to provide pathways to suit each student’s professional and academic needs. They are geared to meet the needs of practitioners who are working or wish to work and/or broaden their career opportunities as artists or managers.

Upon completion of the program, you will have the skills, professional knowledge and capabilities to work effectively in the arts management industry.  You will be aware of the changing environment and able to operate effectively within the various contexts of this environment with practical skills, outputs and networks in arts management. The program is geared to the contemporary worker and workplace with the aim of fostering leadership in arts related workplaces and delivering a program of study that meets real world needs relevant to a wide range of arts management workplaces.

You will be required to attend on-campus seminars throughout the delivery of the program so that you can critically engage with the lecturers, students and visiting industry professionals. There will be regular opportunities to critique presentations of your own work and the work of others in a group setting with your lecturers and fellow students. The reading materials and associated texts for each seminar are available online.
